Police caught a motorist travelling nearly 70 km over the speed limit on Wednesday evening.
The individual was caught going at 178 km/h on the A13 near Sanem shortly before 7pm. Police duly pulled the car over and confiscated the driver's licence, as the limit in that area is 110 km/h.
Elsewhere, a number of motorists lost their licences due to driving whilst intoxicated.
One of these drivers was stopped in Hunsdorf after crashing into a post in Steinsel on Wednesday evening, while another was reported in Schifflange. The latter was found by police in a café in the area, showing signs of visible intoxication; however, he refused to undergo a breathalyser test when asked. Police issued a provisional driving ban, at which point the man became aggressive and uncooperative, later leading to his arrest.
Overnight, another driver was spotted weaving across the A4 due to intoxication, while in Strassen, a vehicle was caught speeding at 72 km/h on the Route d'Arlon. Both of these individuals lost their licences due to drink driving.
Finally, another drink driver was injured after his car overturned on the CR119.
