A motorcyclist succumbed to injuries following a collision with a tractor near Altlinster, while a rogue driver was caught by police on Route de Thionville in the capital after attracting attention for his erratic driving style.
A motorcyclist has died after sustaining severe injuries in a collision with a tractor on Thursday morning.
The 69-year-old from Germany collided with the agricultural vehicle on the road between Altlinster and Imbringen at 11.30am on Thursday. Although the air ambulance was deployed to the scene, the motorcyclist later succumbed to his injuries.
In a separate incident, a driver fell foul of police in Luxembourg City on Wednesday evening as he attempted to conceal not only drug use, but a host of other violations from officers on patrol.
The errant motorist attempted to flee when he noticed a police patrol in the area, but officers quickly pulled the vehicle over and administered a drugs test. The driver was found to be positive and also had drug consumption materials in his possession.
He promptly refused to submit to a blood test, which resulted in officers issuing a temporary driving ban on the spot. It then transpired that the motorist did not possess a valid driver's licence, while the vehicle was not insured and had not passed any technical controls. In addition, the front tyres were both flat.
Officers also discovered a cudgel during a search of the vehicle. The prosecutor's office ordered a record of the incident, while the car was seized by authorities, along with other objects.
