A major police operation in Echternach on Tuesday evening led to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of drugs, cash, and a weapon.
During the operation, officers noticed an individual attempting to evade an identity check before fleeing.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after. A body search revealed several bags containing nearly 10 grammes of cocaine and a substantial sum of cash. Suspecting the individual of drug trafficking, the police informed the Diekirch public prosecutor's office.
An investigation was promptly launched, and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of more than 10 kilogrammes of cannabis, approximately 800 grammes of cocaine, other drugs, and a weapon.
Additionally, luxury wristwatches, over €14,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia were seized and confiscated under the orders of the public prosecutor's office.
The suspect was arrested and appeared before an examining magistrate in Diekirch on Wednesday for questioning. The judge ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody.
