The General Federation of Municipal Workers (FGFC) accused Minister for Mobility Yuriko Backes of disrespecting the trade union following their exclusion from a meeting between the Ministry and the Intercommunal Passenger Transport in Esch-sur-Alzette (TICE) on Monday.

In response to the criticism, Minister Backes clarified that the FGFC had been notified on 15 March that the ministry would be meeting with the TICE executive before receiving the staff delegation again.

The FGFC expresses concerns over potential budget cuts within the intercommunal bus network, which could adversely affect staff members. Urging the Minister to provide clarity on the situation promptly, the trade union seeks reassurance regarding the future of the service.

Addressing the FGFC's concerns, authorities emphasise their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the public transport network in southern Luxembourg. Additionally, they assert that the municipal trade union will not be sidelined from discussions regarding a new agreement between the State and TICE.
