In an interview with Radio Latina, Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich revealed that Pope Francis is "very, very likely" to visit Luxembourg in late September.

Nothing is official yet, but given the Pope's confirmed appearance at the 600th anniversary of the KU Leuven in Belgium, a visit to Luxembourg is likely.

According to Cardinal Hollerich, the Grand Duke had invited Pope Francis, but the logistics need to be discussed, still. For the moment, the dates of 21 and 22 or 28 and 29 September have been put forward, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

The last visit to the Grand Duchy by a pope was 39 years ago, when Pope Jean Paul II visited Luxembourg, Echternach and Esch in May 1985.
