Good news for motorcyclists: Luxembourg City has announced the imminent creation of new parking spaces for motorbikes.
At a press conference earlier this week, Mayor Lydie Polfer confirmed 183 new parking spaces would be created across the city centre and train station hub for motorcyclists. The spaces will be distributed across 19 new parking sites, adding to the 216 existing spaces to make a total of 399 across the capital.
Motorbikes are also permitted to park alongside pavements in spots reserved for parking, free of charge. The mayor added she had no intention of making two-wheeled vehicles pay for parking in Luxembourg City.
"This measure demonstrates the council's desire to implement measures designed to relieve congestion on the capital's roads", a press release from the Luxembourg City municipality reads.
The city has also published a map of parking spaces for two-wheelers on its website, indicating new spaces to be created.
The new parking spaces are set to be implemented over "the next two weeks", according to Polfer.
