Together with the Minister for Defence Yuriko Backes, the Grand Duke visited the 'Härebierg' military centre in Diekirch, as well as the 'Lagland' training camp in Belgium.
The Grand Duke and Minister of Defence were given a full tour of tactical drones, satellite antenna deployment, and docking stations. "This visit was an opportunity to illustrate the significant changes taking place in the army," reads the official press release.
Later in the day, the official delegation set off for the Lagland training camp, a site near Arlon that brings together the Luxembourgish and Belgian armed forces. It is the main training camp for the Luxembourg army, and is used for instruction, training and tactical training.
Here, soldiers are trained in urban combat, shooting, grenade throwing, UAS flights and driving all-terrain vehicles. The site is 'co-located' with the General Bastin camp, expected to house the future Belgian-Luxembourgish reconnaissance and combat battalion.
