A woman who disappeared as a 13-year-old girl 32 years ago has resurfaced in the United States, long after her family had given up hope.
Christina Marie P., now 44, had been the subject of a nationwide search since 15 May 1994. At the time, she vanished in the state of Arizona while on her way to see her horses. Police initially presumed she had been abducted.
Over the years, her family lost all hope of ever seeing her again. However, investigators recently took a fresh look at the cold case and became curious about a 44-year-old woman who bore a striking resemblance to Christina Marie P. Their suspicion proved correct: she was indeed the same person who had been missing since the mid-1990s. Where she has lived all that time remains unknown.
The head of the regional police force said in a television broadcast that the young girl had sought refuge with acquaintances at the time because she was dissatisfied with her life and the people around her.
The now-44-year-old has since started her own family and has completely disavowed her previous life, describing it as “long ago, in a past life.”
Out of respect for her privacy, no further details are to be made public.
