An investigation has been launched into the suspected embezzlement of between €100,000 and €200,000 by the former president of the Documentation Center for Human Migrations (CDMH) in Dudelange, with both local and national authorities filing complaints.

Dudelange Mayor Dan Biancalana confirmed to both the Luxemburger Wort and to RTL that the former CDMH president is suspected of having embezzled between €100,000 and €200,000. He further announced that an investigation has been launched.

Both the municipal council and the Ministry of Culture, along with the administrative council of the CDMH, have filed complaints regarding their losses.

The former president, a retired civil servant, resigned in late October and self-reported to the police for misappropriation of funds from the association. This information was disclosed in a letter from the Dudelange municipality, as reported by RTL.

To address the situation, the concerned ministry and the municipality will conduct an independent audit of the management and governance of the center – this audit aims to uncover how the funds went missing and determine the exact amount involved.
