The Grand Ducal Police issued a warning against a new tracking technique used by burglars.

By attaching very thin, barely visible threads of glue to the bottom corner of the front door, burglars identify whether or not a property is inhabited.

Should the glue wires break, the criminals know that the door has been opened and that someone has entered or left the flat. However, if the wires remain intact, the criminals assume that the residents are away and that they can break in.

With this new discovery, the police are appealing for extra vigilance. Residents who notice such threads on their doors should report them immediately to the police via 113.
