Luxembourgish police had to intervene on several occasions this weekend, as multiple people were injured.
Motorcycle drives into crowd
The first incident took place on Saturday evening near the Place de Paris in Luxembourg city, during a protest against the current regime in Syria. People who were not participating in the protest were provoking the crowd.
Things completely escalated when two bikers drove into the crowd and injured an elderly woman. Then a fight broke out and one of the people involved injured someone else with a knife, who then had to be treated by a team of first responders. The alleged perpetrators have been found and reported.
Three fights involving 20+ people each
On Sunday in the early hours of the morning, three fights involving 20 or more people were reported to the police.
In Clemency on rue de Grass, 20 people got into a fight. A person was injured in the face with a glass bottle, another was punched in the face. The people who caused the fight, who hadn't been invited to the party, fled in an unknown direction.
On rue du Fort Neipperg in Luxembourg city, at around 1 am, about 30 people got involved in a fight around three main aggressors.
Two men took out knifes but did not use them during the fight. However, one person suffered a hand injury from a machete. Thanks to the quick police intervention, all of the main suspects were identified. They were reported and their weapons were confiscated.
In Schlammestee near Weiler-la-Tour, 25 people got involved in a fight around 5 am.
One person was injured as he hit his head on the ground after being punched in the face. He had to be treated at the hospital for a head wound he received following the fall.
Four persons fled towards Hesperange in a car. The police followed the car but have not been able to locate the perpetrators.
