Roadworks starting 29 September will add new lanes, traffic lights, and a roundabout at Ettelbrück’s southern entry, with work lasting nearly two years.

Anyone driving through Ettelbrück during rush hour already knows that patience is often required. From 29 September until mid-2026, this will be truer than ever: a major construction project will begin at the town’s southern entrance and exit. Preparatory work has been underway since 20 September.

According to Ponts et Chaussées, the N7 will be redeveloped between the intersection leading to Schieren and the junction with Rue Jean-Pierre Thill, near the Nordstad Administrative Centre. The project aims both to ease traffic congestion and to anticipate the additional traffic expected once the administrative center is fully operational.

The project foresees an additional turning lane in the direction of Schieren, the reconstruction of sidewalks and both bus stops to meet PMR accessibility standards, and the installation of traffic lights at the junction of the N7 and Rue Jean-Pierre Thill. The Nordstad Administrative Centre will be connected to existing networks, while the road itself will be resurfaced and its lighting and drainage systems renewed. A small roundabout will also be built at the entrance to Ettelbrück’s commercial zone via Rue Jean-Pierre Thill.

Covering a distance of 300 meters, the works are expected to last until mid-2026 and will cost around €1.2 million (including VAT). Construction will take place in three phases: first on the N7 along the administrative center, then on the N7 along Rue Jean-Pierre Thill, and finally within Rue Jean-Pierre Thill itself.

The municipality of Ettelbrück will also take advantage of the project to renew the sewage, drinking water and electricity networks along the section.
