In the run-up to the municipal elections in June, signs of tensions had already manifested in the form of vandalism of posters, affecting both Fokus and The Greens. On Saturday, a mere hours after the unofficial launch of the campaign for the national election in October, the first posters were again targeted and destroyed.

Witnesses sent in several examples of this happening, such as in Weimerskirch on Rue des Sources where an LSAP election sign was set alight at around 7.45pm. According to one witness, police were at the scene to take note of the situation.
