The party issued a statement on Friday evening after a dead cat was placed on one of their election posters in Echternach.

In this statement, the party acknowledged that the atmosphere has been particularly tense in the run-up to the municipal elections, with certain candidates being attacked and intimidated.

One of the main front-runners was allegedly verbally attacked outside her home and her car damaged, not to mention election signs being vandalised, stolen, destroyed or misappropriated with references to “terrorists” or Nazi symbols.

However, the act of vandalism involving the dead cat crossed a line and has led the party to submit an official complaint. They strongly condemned the incident and called for respect for the candidates and their political convictions.
