E. Coli bacteria were found in mussels that were sold at Auchan last week, the food safety authority was informed in a letter.

It concerns all mussels sold at the supermarket between 22 and 25 August.

According to the food safety authority, an infection with E. Coli could lead to digestion issues within a few days, often accompanied by cramps.

Symptoms may be stronger amongst young children, elderly and people with weaker immune systems.

Those who may have consumed the affected mussels are advised to inform and see their GP.

It cannot be ruled out that other places besides Auchan have also sold the same batch of affected mussels.
