Why did the ducks cross the road?City employees help ducklings over busy crossing

RTL Today contributor Natascha Berndt captured some lovely footage of a family of ducklings being helped to cross a road in Luxembourg City on Thursday.

The incident occurred on the corner of Boulevard de la Foire and Avenue Faiencerie. Two Service Hygiene employees were fortunately there to help the ducks get across the busy crossing.

That’s not the only duck-related incident in the news this week, though. Last Sunday, the emergency services were called to Fingig for a rather unusual operation: six ducklings had fallen into a sewer and had to be retrieved by a rescue team.

Thanks to their successful intervention, the six ducklings were reunited with their mother, “safe and sound,” as the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) wrote on Facebook.

We’ve had a few surprising run-ins with animals in Luxembourg City over the years. Who remembers this pet rhea on the tram? And there was the time a man tried to bring his goat onto a bus...

All in all, it’s been a busy few days for Luxembourg’s ducks.

Especially after the Duck Race last weekend!
