The Luxembourgish runner narrowly missed out on silverware after coming fifth in the final 3,000m race of the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul on Sunday.

Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigsten (7:40.32) won the race, followed by Spaniard Adel Mechaal (7:41.75), and Serbia’s Elzan Bibic (7:44.03).

Despite taking the lead in the race early on, Grethen crossed the finish line as fifth in the end with a time of seven minutes, 46 seconds, and 65 hundredths.
