Pilots at the German airline Lufthansa have been on strike since midnight on Thursday. The trade union ‘Vereinigung Cockpit’ called on its members to stop work until Friday at 11.59pm.

The strike is linked to an ongoing dispute over the company pension scheme at Lufthansa. The union stressed that flights evacuating people from the crisis region in the Middle East would not be affected by the industrial action.

So far, two flights scheduled for Thursday morning at Luxembourg Airport have been affected. The flight from Munich, which was due to land in Luxembourg at 08:50, and the flight scheduled to depart for Munich at 9.30am have both been cancelled.

All other Lufthansa flights remain scheduled as normal as of early Thursday morning.
