18.9% of residents use public transport every day, much higher than the European average of 10.7%.
According to Eurostat, the Grand Duchy sits near the very top of the European rankings for daily transport usage. Nearly 19% of residents use public transport daily, a rate significantly higher than the European average (10.7%).
Luxembourg is often – and rightly so – cited as an example for its free mobility policy. It is also the country with the highest proportion of regular users: on a weekly basis, 23.1% of residents use transport. Only Switzerland performs better (24.6%).
In the rest of the European Union, daily usage is significantly lower.
Editor’s note: In an initial article we reported that only 3.3% of the population used daily public transport but that was incorrect.
