The Luxembourg City section of the Left issued a statement to announce that they have appealed the court decision not to accept their complaint over the use of a private security firm in the capital.

The Left took the municipality of Luxembourg City to court over their decision to hire a private security firm to patrol the capital, which the political party believes to be against the law. However, the court of administration classified the complaint as not receivable as the respective judge argued that it lacked justification.

According to a statement (FR), the Left has now appealed this decision, reiterating that "no text allows the Aldermen Council of Luxembourg City to entrust missions of surveillance and security of the public space to private security companies. Such a mission is part of the maintenance of public order, of which the Grand Ducal Police has a monopoly."

The Left further criticises Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding in the statement, who they say favours the DP leadership in the capital due to "political considerations linked to the government coalition currently in place".
