A storm passing through Luxembourg on Friday morning has caused significant transport disruptions, including numerous fallen trees and a major traffic incident on the A1 motorway.

The severe weather, particularly strong gusts of wind, has led to several road closures. The following routes are completely blocked:

  • N1 between Findel and Neiduerf
  • CR134 between Gostingen and Éinen
  • CR105 between Simmer and Kräzierbuch
  • N22 between Préizerdaul and Everlange
  • CR107 at Simmer towards the N8

Additionally, fallen trees are obstructing at least one lane on several other major roads:

  • N31 at Bettembourg at the roundabout
  • CR146 between Greiveldange and Stadtbredimus
  • N10 between Wallendorf and Dillingen
  • CR322 Weyler
  • N10 near Grundhof
  • CR134 between Ehnen and Gostingen
  • CR128 between Beaufort and Reisdorf
  • N11 between Schanz and Graulinster

Separately, an accident was reported on the A3 near the Berchem service area at around 10am.

The most severe disruption is on the A1 motorway towards Trier. Since early morning, the right lane has been closed before the Hamm exit due to an unspecified “emergency”, according to the Motorway Traffic Control and Information Service (CITA). As of mid-morning, CITA had not provided details on the incident.

The closure has caused extensive tailbacks, with queues stretching to Croix de Gasperich, leading to significant delays for Friday commuters.
