Police reported a series of incidents involving drunk and disorderly behaviour across the country.
At around 7.20pm on Friday, a car was reported for following another vehicle on Rue de Turi, Livange.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a car parked in the middle of the road, with an unconscious man inside. When he regained consciousness, officers deduced he was heavily intoxicated, later verified by a positive breathalyser test.
The driver was taken to hospital for a check up, where he became aggressive and uncooperative, eventually grabbing a police officer by the throat. The man had his licence confiscated and was fined for his behaviour.
At around 3.30am on Saturday, a drunk driver came off the road at the Tandel exit at the Bleesbréck roundabout, mounting the pavement and crashing into a road sign. Although the car was damaged in the crash and was unfit for purpose, the driver managed to reach his home in Vianden. Police later located him at home and confiscated his licence for drunk driving.
Elsewhere, police carried out a series of alcohol checks by order of the public prosecutor, testing 126 motorists and issuing six warnings in total. Three motorists had to give up their licences on the spot.
