The second Tuesday in October traditionally marks the first Chamber session in a new legislative period, which begins with the annual State of the Nation speech by the Prime Minister.

On Monday afternoon, the Chamber already revised the progress made during the last legislative period. A total of 300 hours of debates took place across 72 public sessions. Twelve debates of public petitions were also conducted.

The first item on Tuesday's agenda was the official farewell of MP Viviane Reding from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), replaced by Elisabeth Margue.

Afterwards, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel made his annual State of the Nation address.

Luxembourgish farmers announced a protest outside of the Chamber of Deputies ahead of the Prime Minister's speech. Five unions, including two junior organisations, convened outside the Krautmaart building to voice their concerns over the planned agricultural reform.

On Wednesday, the budget for the upcoming year will be filed.
