Preparations for the 59th edition of the Autofestival in Luxembourg are already underway.
For this 59th edition, the Federation of Automobile and Mobility Distributors (Fedamo) has scheduled its event from Monday 23 January to Saturday 4 February 2023.
Given the difficulty car dealers all have experienced in recent years with the coronavirus and the war in Ukraine with supply complications, this year's Autofestival will last 13 days. This will allow dealers to spread the expected traffic over two full weeks and offer customers personalised advice during this car festival.
Buyers have become more demanding and have changed their habits. While sales of internal combustion vehicles still dominate but are declining, electric models have never been in greater demand. According to the Automobile Club, new electric car registrations have risen from 5.5% to 14.7% in two years.
The announced ban on the sale of new combustion engine vehicles has only strengthened the convictions of the Minister for Mobility, François Bausch: Whatever the EU's decision, he is convinced that the majority of cars on the road in 2035 will be electric, he said in July. This opinion is shared by the EIB, whose recent survey estimates that one out of two Luxembourgers will invest in an electric car for their next purchase.
