The Ministry of the Civil Service released information on how many senior officials there have been in recent years on Wednesday.

Not much has changed between 2019 and 2021. The number of 'premiers conseillers de gouvernement' ("first government advisors") dropped from 52 to 49, with 36 men and 13 women among them. Men also occupy the majority of prominent posts in the various administrations. Men made up 65 of the 86 directors in 2021, while women made up only 21. Between 2019 and 2021, the number of directors increased from 80 to 86.

In the education sector, the Ministry distinguishes between primary and secondary education. As of 31 December 2021, there were a total of 64 directors and deputy directors in primary education and 102 directors and deputy directors in secondary education. In primary education, the proportion of men in these positions is 50% and the proportion of women is also 50%. In secondary education, men represent 69.6% of these functions and women 30.4%.

In the armed forces and the police, men continue to hold the overwhelming majority of command roles (91.7% compared to 8.3%). In the judiciary, women represent 38.4% of leading positions and men 61.6%.
