The deferral of the next indexation in August to 2023 will not affect child benefit, according to the Minister of Finance.

Yuriko Backes confirmed the above to RTL on Thursday, saying the government plans to exclude family allowance from the delayed indexation as covered by the tripartite agreement.

In August, family allowance will therefore increase by 2.5 percent. However, salaries and pensions will be moved to April 2023, as per the deferred indexation.

Child benefit was retroactively re-indexed in January this year, covering the months preceding it as far as October 2021.
