On Wednesday morning, the petitioners who wanted to abolish the CovidCheck system in public buildings and in the workplace were given time to address the Chamber's petition commission.

Since the petition was originally launched, a number of new Covid laws have been approved by the Chamber of Deputies, which means that many of the changes requested by the petitioners have already come into effect.

Nevertheless, a debate still took place and saw the petitioners lament a lack of communication from the government. MPs disputed this claim, noting that the very debate they were conducting at the moment proved otherwise.

After one of the co-petitioners compared the pandemic to the Holocaust, almost every MP decided to get up and leave the room.

In terms of abolishing the CovidCheck system, a proposal which 6,000 people signed, the petitioners were referred to the most recent Covid laws, which stipulate that the system is only applied in hospitals and care homes.
