A reinforced screening will come into force in Cycle 1 from Friday, 21 January. When a positive case is detected in a class, all pupils will no longer be immediately quarantined, but will instead take a rapid test every day if their parents have given their consent. A whole class will now only be quarantined after six cases of Covid-19 have been detected.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the National Syndicate of Teachers (SNE) criticised the easing of quarantine rules, particularly in this age group where the majority of children are not vaccinated and where wearing a mask is not compulsory. The teachers’ union warns against a “conscious contamination” of the country’s primary schools, especially in view of the current record number of new infections in Luxembourg.
