With a number of long-awaited blockbusters hitting the big screen, many people decided to flock to the cinema over the holidays.
The new 2G+ system does however complicate the usual visit. The restrictive entry rule is in place for adults and adolescents starting from the age of twelve.
This means that filmgoers that have not been boosted require an additional rapid test at the door - vaccinated or recovered is no longer sufficient.
Edgar da Mota from Kinepolis expressed his surprise over the government decision, but acknowledged the quick distribution of tests: "We now set up a testing zone where everyone who has not yet received a booster shot can take a free rapid test."
The recent changes certainly pose a logistical challenge for cinemas, but it also makes it more difficult for young people to access them if they are not already vaccinated and willing to test on location.
Adolescents are not yet allowed to get a third dose from one of the vaccines. Some of those concerned thus expressed their dismay over the measure, while others support the additional testing procedure.
