On Wednesday, the National Health Directorate noted in their weekly review that new infections increased by 5% between 13 and 19 December. This trend is confirmed by wastewater analyses.

Alongside new infections, the Covid-19 contamination in the country’s wastewater is also increasing, according to the latest report by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), which has analysed the level of SARS-CoV-2 contamination of wastewater at the entrance of 11 wastewater treatment plants.

LIST regularly carries out wastewater analyses.

According to the researchers, the general trend over several weeks or even months is “clearly upwards”.
