The Superior Council for Infectious Diseases has issued an official recommendation.

The booster will increase the protection provided by the vaccine and reduce the risk of a severe or even fatal outcome in case of infection.

It should be given at least six months after the last jab (either the second or only jab, depending on the vaccine given). The Council further recommends to opt for an mRNA vaccine, i.e. Moderna or BioNTech/Pfizer, regardless of what was given the first time.

The people in question will receive a letter from the government to make an appointment at a vaccination centre or with their GP.

The Council does not currently recommend a booster for those under 65 or vulnerable people.
