The government council met on Friday to discuss planned Covid measures. In response to an ultimatum issued by the trade unions regarding the implementation of the CovidCheck regime within the workplace, the government said the measures were vital in order to curb the virus spread and encourage vaccination rates to climb once more.

The situation will be closely monitored and the measures can be eased if the situation calls for it.

MPs also agreed on the recognition of vaccine certificates issued in the UK and United States.

The nomenclature of medical services has also been adapted, with a new act permitting doctors to vaccinate certain people at home against Covid.

In addition, the council green-lit the national climate strategy, which envisions climate neutrality in Luxembourg by 2050, requiring profound changes to the economy and society.

An agreement was signed between the State, CLT-Ufa and the RTL Group with regard to the performance of a public service mission, to be followed by a specialist financing law.

The government council also approved the opening and closing dates for the upcoming winter and summer sales, which will cover the periods of 3-29 January and 24 June - 23 July respectively.
