Minister of Health Paulette Lenert and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs Franz Fayot provided this insight in their joined response to a parliamentary enquiry by MPs Stéphanie Empain and Marc Hansen from The Greens (FR).

Their response further entails a detailed overview of when individual vaccines expire, mostly ranging from November 2021 to mid 2023. Those that are closer to expiration are to be used first, Ministers Lenert and Fayot underlined.

The enquiry also addresses potential EU contract commitments that could limit the Grand Duchy’s ability of donating vaccines. Ministers Lenert and Fayot noted that due confidentiality clauses, they are not able to provide a response.

However, back in September, the Luxembourg government announced that it would donate 56,000 doses of Vaxzevria from AstraZeneca to the Republic of Cabo Verde.
