Mobile health teamsOver 1,300 people have used the vaccine buses so far

RTL Today
The buses, where people can get vaccinated without an appointment, launched on 7 August.

The repurposed party bus with the mobile teams from the Health Directorate can be found at events around the country. People can spontaneously decide to get vaccinated. How does this work and what motivates those who queue up to get the jab? RTL took a closer look at the concert series Pond Eclectic on Kirchberg.

Samuel Luyasu, emergency doctor at the CHL, epxlains:

People can simply come to the vaccine bus with their ID and CNS card. They can choose between two vaccines. Either BioNTech/Pfizer, where you need two jabs and can get your second either at Hall Victor Hugo or at various GP practices. Or the Johnson vaccine, where only one dose is required. So people have a choice, but the doctor may favour one product due to some medical parameters and recommend that one.

Logistically, the vaccine bus is similarly to the traditional vaccine centres. Over 1,300 people have made use of the offer so far.

The average age is around 35 years, but we see people of every age. We’ve had 12 year old patients as well as people who are 80. Around 8 percent of those visiting the bus are over 60. So most of them are young, but of course we welcome everyone.
