Antibody tests are able to show the amount of protection that a person has against Covid-19. Every week, the health directorate will therefore invite 4,000 people to get a better picture of the level of immunity here in Luxembourg.
With more and more people vaccinated, expectations are that our protection levels will soon be high enough to tune down restrictions. However, Dr Jean-Claude Schmit emphasised that even a positive antibody test will not count as a valid alternative to the CovidCheck system.
Even though people who contracted the virus during the last six months only have to get one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, they can also opt for two shots. “There is no such thing as being ‘over-vaccinated’”, Dr Schmit concluded.
At the moment, he does not see any reason for a third vaccination dose, especially when it comes to children. Some of the older and more vulnerable people however have already started getting third shots.
