Waiting times for MRI appointments in Luxembourg have decreased over the last three years, according to Minister of Health Paulette Lenert.
In her reply to a parliamentary question by MP Mars di Bartolomeo from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), Minister of Health Paulette Lenert stated that the waiting times to get an MRI examination have decreased in all hospitals "due to the installation of one additional MRI machine per hospital".
In 2018, the government authorised the installation of four additional MRI machines in Luxembourg's hospitals in order to reduce excessive waiting times. The machines have been operational for over a year now.
According to the details provided by the Minister, the waiting time has decreased from an average of 47.8 days in January 2018 to 34 days in January 2021 at Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN) in Ettelbruck.
In Esch-sur-Alzette, at Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM), it decreased from 58 to 23 days during the same period.
Similarly, the waiting time for an MRI scan fell from 80 to 43 days at Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) and from 73 to 28 days at Hôpitaux Robert Schuman.
