A break-in occurred late last week at the premises of the Ministry of Education on Rue Aldringen in the capital. As the ministry confirmed on request, staff noticed on Friday morning that items were missing.
According to police, they were informed of the burglary at around 8.40am.
Several laptops and tablets were stolen, but these have since been recovered by police. On the same day, a man was stopped during a train check at the station in Arlon by Belgian police, where four tablets and four laptops were seized.
All of the devices could be identified thanks to labels indicating that they belonged to the inventory of the IT Management Centre (CGIE), police said. The man was reported.
The Ministry of Education stated that it is currently working with those responsible at the Public Building Administration to review the building’s security arrangements.
