Some elements are currently being revised due to the pandemic and its implications on remote work. The steel company further emphasised that earth filling procedures at the site were already concluded.

Reason for the enquiry from our colleagues at RTL are a number of rumours that the government is considering to step back from the construction project.

During the initial presentation of the headquarters in December 2017, the new steel and glas building was scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. By mostly using steel from its sites in Belval and Differdange, ArcelorMittal intends to show that the material can be used for sustainable constructions.

The building is set to offer more than 7,000 square metres of working space to over 800 employees, including a restaurant, sport infrastructure, and an auditorium for 200 people. French architecture firm Wilmotte et associés was entrusted with drawing up plans for the HQ.

It now remains to be seen in what direction the ambitious project will evolve, and when it can be expected to be completed.
