The platform now seems to operate in two different worlds. On one side, the stop is almost empty, with no buses or passengers in sight. On the other, crowds scramble to catch their buses, which often end up queued behind two or three others.

The surge in activity is due to changes in the bus schedules. Terminals for 14 lines were moved to the nearby Simone de Beauvoir and Avalon stops, which previously partly remained at the Luxexpo bus station. Now, 24 different bus lines stop at Luxexpo’s platform 4, leading to congestion particularly in the evenings. This is raising concerns about public safety due to passengers pushing their way through the crowd to get on the bus.

More than anything, concerned passengers are confused over the change, as the bus station map indicates that each platform is intended for one line at a time. Platform 4, positioned next to the road, often sees multiple buses standing at once. Platform 5 is also affected, with mornings proving particularly risky as commuters rush across the road instead of using the zebra crossing to reach their buses.

In a written response to questions from RTL, authorities explained that the adjustments were made to give each bus line a permanent waiting place. Previously, buses without passengers would often stop elsewhere in the district. The new arrangement is intended to improve the quality of life for residents around Luxexpo.
