In the week of 19 to 25 January, the number of flu infections reported in Luxembourg’s laboratories reduced from 872 cases to 740. “This represents a 15% drop compared to last week,” announced the Ministry of Health in its weekly report on respiratory infections, published on Thursday.
This is the second consecutive weekly drop after the country reached a peak of 922 cases in the second week of January. But in spite of the reduction in cases, the Ministry warns the virus is still in elevated circulation.

In the last week, 99.9% of cases were influenza type A and 0.1% type B.
The Ministry said it was still possible for people to take up the flu vaccine. This recommendation is primarily aimed at people aged over 65 who could be vulnerable as a result of infection. The vaccination is the best way to prevent seasonal flu and reduce the chance of developing complications, the report said.
In the same week, the Ministry noted that the number of coronavirus cases increased by 35% – 88 cases, up from 65 the previous week.
As for RSV, the Ministry observed a 14% reduction, wiith 125 confirmed infections compared to 145 the previous week. Since October 2025, 58% of RSV infections have affected children under the age of 10, indicating the virus is predominantly prevalent among young children.
