Tensions were high on Friday following Thursday's updates on Covid-19, as people across the country began panic-buying.
As our editor can attest to, Luxembourg's supermarkets are currently overwhelmed by people stockpiling in preparation for closures of schools and potential self-isolation as coronavirus continues to spread.
On Friday morning, police were called out to the Topaz shopping centre and Cactus in Mersch after crowds of shoppers caused unrest and problems on the roads. Police were forced to regulate traffic in an attempt to reduce the chaotic situation, which began around 8am. By 10am, the troubles appeared to have calmed down.

Cactus supermarket in Käerjeng also played host to shopper chaos, with police forced to intervene once more as crowds became overwhelming.
In response to RTL's questioning, the police confirmed both interventions took place.
A Cactus spokesperson confirmed there were no issues with stock and supplies were plentiful; however, employees were having difficulties restocking the shelves due to the vast numbers of shoppers.
Other stores have also experienced issues with overcrowding, with empty shelves and long queues developing at tills.
