European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver her annual State of the Union address before the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday morning.
This highly anticipated speech comes at a time of major global challenges and is expected to help set the European Union’s political direction for the years ahead.
Among the main issues to be addressed are youth protection, artificial intelligence, geopolitics, security, and efforts to reduce bureaucracy within the EU.
In addition to outlining future priorities, von der Leyen will also reflect on the achievements and developments of the past year.
The full speech will be broadcast live from the European Parliament in Strasbourg between 8.45am and 12pm.
