12 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Luxembourg, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

This brings Luxembourg's total to 19 cases - details on the previous cases can be found below.

According to the ministry, two of them were found to have contracted the virus in Luxembourg. Officials are currently assessing the situation.

One case was diagnosed at the Kirchberg site of the Robert Schuman Hospitals (HRS). In order to protect public health, the hospital has implemented a number of new precautionary measures.

Access will be controlled at the main entrance and patient visits will be limited. Only hospital staff can reserve parking spaces and ambulatory consultations are substantially reduced.

Previous cases

Luxembourg's sixth and seventh cases were confirmed on Tuesday evening. One of the infected persons had stayed in the US, while the second had returned from a visit to Switzerland.

The fifth case was confirmed four days ago, Sunday the 8th of March, and followed announcements over the weekend of a third and fourth case in Luxembourg. The third confirmed case also involved a person who had returned from Alsace, while the fourth was a person who had an "epidemiological link" with northern Italy.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the government communicated the decision that all events expected to attract over 1,000 visitors must be cancelled or postponed.
