At 7pm on Monday, traffic on the Arlon motorway was at a standstill following a previous accident near Bertrange, when a lorry crashed into the back of a second truck, sending it careering into two cars and a third lorry.
Both occupants of the cars died at the scene following the violent collision. A third person was left with injuries.
The motorway was closed in the direction of the capital for the night to allow access to emergency services and clean up teams. It reopened at 6am on Tuesday morning.
