Plenty of work, yet the end result is worth it! The annual "Schueberfouer" remains an incredibly popular attraction in the Grand Duchy.

This year, Luxembourg City will host the 679th edition of the annual Schueberfouer on the Glacis. From 23 August to 11 September, the event still attracts thousands to our country’s capital, both old and new faces.

In less than a week, the biggest funfair in the Greater Region will open, with 250 stands and other attractions on offer to visitors.

“There is no time for mistakes,” said Chelbat Samir. Having taken over the family stand two years ago, he told us he prefers to work with people he knows and in whom he has a total confidence.

Five days later, the Glacis no longer looks the same:

Chelbat Samir points out that most visitors do not see the amount of work, preparation and effort that goes into assembling the Schueberfouer. He is proud to have a family united in solidarity, with each member bringing a different yet important skill to the table.

It’s essential no time be wasted! Here the progress by 8 August 2019:

For fairground artists and business people, the Schueberfouer is a goldmine, drawing in, as it does, hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It also creates a renewed appeal for the businesses in the area, usually reserved for cars and the occasional market.

The transformation by 10 August 2019:

13 August: Testing, testing, 1 - 2 - 3

Security ist the number 1 priority at the Schueberfouer. It’s not surprising then, that certain rides start their inspections sooner than others.

17 August: the evolution continues

While some stalls have already completed their set up, others are just putting up the final touches, and some are only just beginning. Slowly but surely however, one can begin to see what the fair has in store for its visitors this year.

How to get to the Schueberfouer

In order to ensure an easy journey between people’s homes and the Glacis, the Luxembourg Transport Community has set up a special program with shuttles and buses travelling special routes and at new times.
