Excises imposed on fuels are due to increase as of Wednesday 1 May. The ministers involved (Minister for Mobility and Public Works François Bausch, Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna, and Minister for the Environment Carole Dieschbourg) confirmed the date in a response to a parliamentary question.
Up until now, the only date set for the fuel excise increase was the month of May, but not the ministers have confirmed the exact date.
Based on Gramegna’s assertions in March, the price of diesel will rise by two cents per litre and the price of petrol by one cent per litre.
The increase is only on the fuel excise duty, an adaptation which is meant to help reduce Luxembourg’s carbon footprint.
