Villeroy & Boch was a staple of Luxembourg's economy for over 200 years. An era ended when the company closed its doors in Luxembourg eight years ago.

The old Villeroy & Boch buildings will soon be torn down to make way for a new residential area with flats, offices and shops.

In cooperation with the city of Luxembourg, which part of the land belongs to, Villeroy & Boch will launch the real estate project in Rollingergrund.

In Luxembourg, over 1,000 people worked for Villeroy & Boch in their heyday.

Strong competition from abroad and automated production processes increased the pressure on the traditionally Luxembourgish company and in 2009, it was finally decided that production in Luxembourg would not continue.

Today, all that is left of Villeroy & Boch in Luxembourg is a small factory for gifts and personalised products.

This development should regenerate the area and see it become a prized spot for residents hoping to settle into a new residential scheme.
