Following concerned comments from some of our readers, the roads and bridges department has confirmed that the new road markings will be anti-skid.

Judging from some of our readers' reactions, not everybody is happy about the new road markings aimed at improving biker safety. Their purpose is to keep motorcyclists from getting too close to the middle of the road and thus drive more safely. However, some have expressed worry about slipping on the markings.

The new markings are currently being put in place on the N25 between Wiltz and Kautenbach, a winding road which is particularly dangerous to motorcyclists.

This new type of marking comes from Austria where it has been applied (albeit in elliptical shape) on the "Grossglockner", the highest peak in the Alps. According to the Austrian office for road safety (KFV), the markings prevent motorcyclists from cutting bends and have led to a decrease in accidents.
