The Ministry of Health responded to questions on the weekly report, confirming that four of the eleven people who died from 29 November to 5 December were vaccinated, while the remaining seven had not received a single dose of the vaccine.
The Ministry added that these numbers were relative to the general population, as the majority are vaccinated or have received at least one jab.
To date, 380 people have died of coronavirus in Luxembourg in 2021. 265 of these (around 70%) were not vaccinated at all. 12% (46 people) were fully vaccinated and 69 (18%) had what is considered an incomplete vaccination schedule.
For the 46 people who were vaccinated when they died, death occurred on average around 20 weeks, or 140 days, after receiving the second dose.
Since the beginning of September, when vaccines became available to the full adult population, 59 people have died of coronavirus. 29 were vaccinated, 29 were not, and 1 person had received a single dose.
