All residents will receive letters inviting them to be tested over the coming weeks, with registration available online. Emergency cases can make appointments via telephone.
17 drive-in testing stations are open across the country. The tests are regularly taken to the laboratory in Junglinster for analysis, with 4 tests checked at a time to increase speed. Prof. Dr Bernard Weber, CEO of Laboratoires Réunis, said it was the most reliable method of analysis, but warned that false negatives could not be ruled out. However, if a pool of 4 tests yielded a positive result, all four would be individually re-tested.
Testing capacity of 20,000 tests a day has been reached. Over the next few days, testing would drop to 10,000 tests per day, according to Prof. Dr. Ulf Nehrbass, CEO of the Luxembourg Institute of Health.
